Thousands Gather for the Third Annual Central Square Night Market in Cambridge
Central Square Night Market returned to University Park on September 19, bringing thousands of people together for an evening of food, local businesses, live music, culture, and community in the heart of Cambridge.
What a night, Central Square.
Thousands of neighbors, visitors, families, artists, food lovers, and friends filled University Park in Cambridge for the third annual Central Square Night Market, presented by the Central Square Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Boston Night Market.
The free outdoor event brought together 50+ vendors, food and drinks, artists and makers, live performances, games, a beer garden, and interactive experiences for an evening celebrating the cultures and creativity that make Central Square one of Cambridge's most distinctive neighborhoods.
A Night Market Built Around Culture and Community
Inspired by the energy and tradition of Asian night markets, the Central Square Night Market was created as more than a place to eat and shop.
The event is part of the Central Square BID's larger commitment to creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs, artists, performers, restaurants, makers, and small businesses while bringing people together in public spaces.
Throughout the night, guests moved through University Park discovering vendors, trying food, meeting local businesses, dancing, and experiencing performances from artists representing different cultures and musical styles.
The 2026 entertainment lineup featured Stealth Mode, Shiori Kubrick, Armaya Doremi, and Violin Viiv, bringing DJ sets, J-Pop/Rock, Indonesian music and dance, and electric violin to the Night Market stage.
50+ Vendors, One Central Square
Small businesses are part of what gives Central Square its identity.
This year's Night Market featured more than 50 vendors, creating an opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet thousands of potential customers in a single evening.
For some visitors, the Night Market was a chance to discover a business for the first time. For vendors, artists, and makers, events like this create opportunities for visibility, customer connection, and participation in Cambridge's broader local economy.
That exchange is central to why the Central Square BID continues to invest in large-scale public programming.
Come hungry. Shop local. Stay awhile. isn't just a tagline. It's the experience we're trying to create.
The World Lives Here
The Night Market is also one expression of the Central Square BID's The World Lives Here campaign, which celebrates the people and cultures that shape the neighborhood.
Central Square has long been a place where food, music, art, nightlife, immigration, entrepreneurship, and community intersect. The World Lives Here is about making those stories more visible and ensuring that the programming happening in the neighborhood reflects the people who make Central Square what it is.
For a few hours at University Park, we got to see that idea come alive in real time.
We ate.
We danced.
We shopped local.
We celebrated cultures from across our community.
And Central Square showed up.
Powered by Partnership
An event of this scale doesn't happen alone.
Thank you to our partners at Boston Night Market for helping us bring the Night Market experience to life and to BioMed Realty for providing the University Park space that allowed thousands of people to gather in the heart of Central Square.
We're also grateful to every vendor, artist, performer, staff member, volunteer, community partner, and guest who contributed to the evening.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came.
The energy of the Central Square Night Market doesn't come from a stage, a flyer, or an event schedule.
It comes from the people.
What's Next for Central Square?
The Night Market may be over, but we're not slowing down.
The Central Square BID will continue creating programming, public-space activations, cultural events, and opportunities that bring people into the neighborhood and support the businesses, artists, organizations, and people who call Central Square home.
Because The World Lives Here, and we're going to keep finding ways to show it.
Stay connected with the Central Square BID for upcoming events, neighborhood news, business spotlights, and more.
