We're launching a new outreach initiative to better serve all members of the Central Square community. Our team will be in the streets talking to our unhoused neighbors, non-profits, and small businesses to learn about their needs and how the BID can best serve them. A passionate group with connections to Central Square deep in their bones.

Meet our team:

Malene

1) What is your connection to Cambridge and Central Sq.?

I am born and raised in Cambridge, I am a TRUE cantabrigian. I can remember going to woolworths to get my first fish, and purchasing my very first rap tape (Dana Dane with Fame) from Skippy Whites record store where their motto was "if you don't know the name of the song, just hum it." Cambridge will always be my home and Central Sq. will always be the heart of Cambridge.

2) Why did you choose this type of work?

I chose this work because helping people is my true passion. Being a Cambridge resident and seeing all of the changes, I want to keep things alive and get Central Sq. back to what it used to be; safe, fun and comfortable for everyone.

3) What will the BID outreach team provide to the community?

The BID outreach team will provide support, a listening ear, and a safe place for the homeless.

1) What is your connection to Cambridge and Central Sq.?

I've been connected to Cambridge since high school. My friends and I would always hang out at the Cambridge Galleria Mall to grab food and to go shopping after school. I loved Central Square's night life. It was a pleasure to see my friends perform at Middle East. Also can't forget about my favorite food spot in Cambridge: Izzy's!

2) Why did you choose this type of work?

I choose this type of work because I have a passion for helping people and trying to make a difference in someone's life for the better. It's something that I will always live for.

3) What will the BID outreach team provide to the community?

The BID Outreach team will provide support and advocacy to people who need help or want a change in their life or in the community. We're here to try and help keep Central Square alive and safe for everyone during this time.

1) What is your connection to Cambridge and Central Square?

My son Liam and Liam's Lunches of Love started making lunches for people within Central Square four years ago, and we saw just how far simple acts of kindness could go. My family lives in the Holmes Building, which makes Central Square our front yard!

2) Why did you choose this type of work?

I have always enjoyed helping people, and once I realized that we can always do more for people in need, I started actively doing more. I have found a career that is as fulfilling to me now and helpful to the people on the streets.

3) What will the BID outreach team provide to the community?

We will be an outside-of-the-box type of organization that will find where Central Square and the service community need us the most. No idea will be too big or unconventional to be explored.
