This month’s #CSBAspotlight: Cambridge Community Television (CCTV)! While they were founded in 1988, CCTV has called Central Square home since 1995.

“Cambridge Community Television is the community media center that provides access to the three community cable channels in Cambridge — 8, 9, and 96. We train people to use media production equipment and help them create programming that reflects their lives and what’s important to them to broadcast on our channels.

CCTV is really the voice of the people. It’s a free speech forum, so anyone who wants to get a message out can come in here and do so. This helps us engage the community in a civic dialogue about issues, local news, and so much more not covered by mainstream media.

We also do a lot with teaching media to those who need it. We have a year-round youth program serving Cambridge teens, a citizen journalism program called ‘Neighbor Media’, classes for camera/production skills, special classes for seniors & nonprofits, and much more. In addition to teaching, we also offer production services for local businesses and artists!

We love being a part of such a vibrant neighborhood. It’s so alive and full of different kinds of people and experiences. The property & business owners in Central Square are all so supportive of each other, and it makes for a great environment.”
